PTC controls installed at the MIT BEAMS Lab
Lexington, MA (August 2008) - Pyramid Technical Consultants Inc. has collaborated with the MIT Biological Engineering Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (BEAMS) Laboratory in a major upgrade of the AMS system (web.mit.edu/beams).

The researchers at the BEAMS Lab use the machine for world-leading research in pharmokinetics, toxicology and metabolite profiling. They needed increased reliability and greater ease of use to get the most from the complex accelerator. Working closely with the researchers, Pyramid has upgraded the system with a fully fiber-optic network using an A500 real-time controller, seventeen M10 units controlling distributed power supplies, plus an F100 and two I200s to read beam currents. A specially-written graphical host application provides the users with the feedback and control that they need.
